The East Hangar is a novelty in Swiss aviation. A total of 12 business jets will find room on two turntables with a diameter each of 32 meters. The sophisticated roof cons­truction of wood will also bear 850 solar cells which will generate electricity for 40 to 50 households. On Monday 15 September at 13.30 h Grenchen Airport held a media conference for the construction of the in­no­va­tive East Hangar. Following that was the ground break­ing ceremony carried out by the Administrative Coun­cil President, Alfred Lüthi.
